The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation adds antique tinsmithing tools
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation has added 23 antique tinsmithing tools to its collection.
The tools were given to the foundation by Judith and William McMillen of Glenmont, N.Y. The donation will help Colonial Williamsburg reach its goal of acquiring more materials related to 18th century trades and professions.
The donated tools won't used, but will serve as the basis for creating replicas. A tin shop is being added to Anderson's Blacksmith Shop and Public Armoury in preparation for the replicas being completed.
