The William and Mary rowing club is outperforming last year and earning many medals.

Last year, when the school competed in the American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championship's Varsity Women's 1x the team did not place. This year Ashley Koontz won the gold with Charlotte Dobry winning bronze.

In addition to those victories, the school saw the Women's Varsity 4+ place fourth, which was 10 places better than the previous year. The Men's Lightweight Varsity 4+ took the bronze.

"Having such a big improvement from one year to the next is just a testament to the hard work and determination of the athletes, and also having them believe that William and Mary can compete on that level," said Travis Hall, the college's director of rowing and head women's rowing coach, in a press release.

William and Mary is located at 102 Richmond Road, Williamsburg. For more information, call 757-221-4000.
