William & Mary alumna to star on comedy talk show
Sara Schaefer, a member of the William & Mary Class of 2000, will be co-hosting a late-night talk and comedy show on MTV.
Schaefer, of Richmond, majored in theater and English while at William & Mary. She credited the school allowing her to pursue her interests. "I think the environment there encourages young people to take risks and go after their dreams," she said in the press release.
After graduating, Schaefer spent some time in New Orleans before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Along the way she has held several writing jobs and earned awards. Schaefer worked as the head blogger for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and won two Emmy Awards.
Schaefer will host the show withe comedian Nikki Glaser. The two work together to produce "You Had to be There," a weekly podcast series.
"I'm massively excited because, well, this has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember," Schaefer said in the release. "I have worked really hard for over a decade to make this happen."
"The Nikki and Sara Show" will air at 11 p.m. once a week. It is expected to begin airing later this year.
