Williamsburg Planning Commission to discuss midtown, downtown planning drafts at July 11 work sessio

The Williamsburg Planning Commission will hold a comprehensive work session Wednesday, July 11.

The session will include three major items of business. The first will be the drafting of Chapter 5 for Community Character. The chapter will cover such items as historic preservation and design review, archeological preservation and entrance corridors.

The commission will move on to produce a second draft of the Midtown Planning Area. The draft will incorporate changes that were discussed at a previous work session in addition to changes to zoning and parking that the city council approved June 14.

The final major item of business will be the writing of a second draft of the downtown planning area. This draft will encompass changes that were discussed at a previous work session which include revisions to residential scale and character and residential density.

Each of these discussions will include an open forum, staff presentations and discussion from the commission. The meeting will be at 4 p.m. on the third floor of the Williamsburg Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., Williamsburg.
