Soma collecting bras for women in shelters

For two years, Soma Intimates has been organizing bra-collection drives for women in shelters for victims of domestic violence.

This year is no different.

Through Aug. 12, Soma boutiques, including the company's outlet in Williamsburg, are collecting new and “gently used” bras for shelters associated with the National Network to End Domestic Violence, according to a Soma news release. The national network represents more than 2,000 shelters in the U.S. and bras are one of the most needed – yet least donated – items of clothing for women, according to the release.

Since Soma created its “Giving is Beautiful” bra donation campaign, the company has collected more than 265,000 bras for women in need, according to the release.

In addition to donating bras at the Soma boutique, those who wish can donate online to the National Network to End Domestic Violence via soma.com, the news release states.

The Soma Intimates in Williamsburg is located at 5715-74 Richmond Road.
