Repairs to CSX railroad crossing set to begin

The city of Williamsburg announced that reconstruction on the CXS vehicular railroad crossing at North Henry Street will begin at 6 a.m. Monday, July 30.

The repair project is expected to take two days. Motorists should be aware that traffic on the road will be re-routed during construction.

City crews will be re-paving the crossing on Wednesday, Aug. 1, but traffic will resume during paving. Timing for the work remains dependent on cooperative weather conditions.

The city of Williamsburg applied for grant funds for this project under the Highway-Rail Grade Crossing Program of the Virginia Department of Transportation in January of 2011. Funding comes from the federal government under the Transportation Equity Acts for the 21st Century program administered by the VDOT.
