High school fall athletic tryouts open

Cheerleading, sideline and field hockey tryouts are planned for fall sports, but athletes must have a current Virginia High School League athletic physical on file with the athletic director to participate.

The physical must be dated on or after May 1.

Cheerleading tryouts will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 6 through Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Jamestown High School. Sideline tryouts are scheduled from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, and Friday, Aug. 10, at the high school.

Tryouts for field hockey will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the high school.

The school is located at 3751 John Tyler Highway, Williamsburg.

Athletes also must attend tryouts if they want to play on a sports team this fall.
