Williamsburg runners complete The Military Challenge

Twenty-one runners from Williamsburg completed The Military Challenge on July 28 in Virginia Beach.

The Williamsburg runners were Michael Gomez, 27 (29:08); Haley Simonsen, 15 (32:23); Andie Gillem, 17 (32:25); Lauren Simonsen, 15 (32:30); Jennifer Lee Smethurst, 27 (32:51); Hayley Batten, 17 (34:41); Scott Nance, 44 (37:59); Alexander Faber, 16 (38:00); Eric Faber, 41 (38:00); David Ozolek, 63 (38:37); Alexander Wulfert, 25 (40:48); Trey Henderson, 32 (40:59); Daniel Garcia, 30 (44:16); Michael Brandon Roberts, 27 (48:20); Summers M. Henderson, 32 (53:35); Jeff Hosier, 28 (58:58); Kristin Nixon, 30 (58:59); Travis Riley, 32 (1:00:30); William Oconnell, 44 (1:02:08); John Paul Deguzman, 38 (1:02:09); and Lucy Quinn, 54 (1:05:25).

A total of 1,480 runners finished the 5K race, which was held in the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. The race featured a 5K run and obstacle course.

Ryan Carroll, of Portsmouth, was the men's overall winner with a time of 19:14, while Georgette Linda Mink, of Midhurst, Ontario, was the winner in the women's division with 24:04.
