The Vineyards of Williamsburg 5K to take place Aug. 11
The Vineyards of Williamsburg is hosting a 5K run and walk benefit Saturday, Aug. 11, at its clubhouse on Jockeys Neck Trail.
The 5K through the vineyards will benefit Child Development Resources, a Williamsburg-based nonprofit that helps babies and toddlers with disabilities. More than 800 people are expected to participate in the event, according to the center's website.
The event will also include raffle drawings, children's activities, Ben and Jerry's ice cream and food from Moe's Southwest Grill.
Race day registration will begin 5 p.m. with packet pickups and games for children. A 1-mile fun run and walk will begin 6:30 p.m., and participating children will receive toy medals.
The 5K will begin 7 p.m., and an awards ceremony will be held at approximately 8:15 p.m. following the end of the race. Participants will also receive a race T-shirt.
Registration for the 5K is $35 in advance and $40 the day of the event. The fun run is $10 per participant.
Online registration is available at cdr.org. The deadline to register online is noon Friday, Aug. 10.
