Colonial Williamsburg's Revolutionary City and Art Museums summer programs continue
Programs and activities at the Revolutionary City and Art Museum at Colonial Williamsburg will continue.
Revolutionary City allows guests to learn about the American Revolution in a hands-on environment. During daily programming, guests become part of the story as the city recreates the days, months and years that led up to the Revolutionary War. Guests can follow the tales of four individuals who lived in the capital of Virginia during the 18th century, including a slave, a loyalist and a soldier. Then a trip to Colonial Williamsburg will give them a chance to meet townspeople and hear their stories.
Young gusts will be able to learn about the games that children their age played in the 18th century as well as get a taste for the kinds of chores children were responsible for. This is a daily program held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. now through Sunday, Sept. 2.
A Salute to the Nation will be held at 9 p.m. every Friday night now through Friday, Aug. 24 on the Governors Palace Green. The event includes a firework display. The event is free and open to the public. At night, guests will also be able to enjoy live entertainment at the Raleigh Tavern, where fife and drum performances will be held. Other entertainment will include Pirates Amongst Us and African American Music.
The Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum and the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum offer tours and special programs for children.
The Children's Orientation Walk is a 30-minute walking tour that points out family activities around Revolution City. It is held at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
The Colonial Williamsburg visitor's center is located at 101 Visitor Center Drive. Revolution City is accessible from the center.
