Tribe men's basketball releases 2012-2013 nonconference schedule
The William and Mary men's basketball team has announced the nonconference schedule for the 2012 to 2013 season.
William and Mary will begin nonconference play Friday, Nov. 9 when it battles Hampton at home. The Tribe holds a 9-6 lead in the all-time series and will be playing the Pirates for the 16th time in the last 18 years.
The Tribe will travel to Liberty on Monday, Nov. 12 and will take on High Point in a road game Saturday, Nov. 17. William and Mary will be playing Liberty for the third consecutive season. A year ago, the Tribe knocked off the Flames in the 2K Sports Classic.
Miami, Ohio, comes to town Wednesday, Nov. 21. It will be the first time since 1986 that the Tribe has hosted the RedHawks. William and Mary fell 73-69 to Miami last season.
The Tribe takes on Wake Forest on Friday, Nov. 23. The Tribe knocked off the Demon Deacons 78-68 in their last meeting during the 2009 to 2010 campaign.
William and Mary heads to Richmond on Wednesday, Nov. 28 to renew a rivalry against a former Colonial Athletic Association opponent. The Tribe and Spiders have played 197 games against each other. Richmond has won the last two meetings.
On Thursday, Dec. 6, the Tribe will battle Howard at home. It will mark the third consecutive year the two teams have met. Two days later, William and Mary will square off against Radford. The Tribe has won the last four games against the Highlanders, including an 84-52 victory during the 2010 to 2011 season.
The Tribe battles Division III Salisbury on Friday, Dec. 21 in its final nonconference home game and will head to Indiana to take on Purdue on Saturday, Dec. 29. The Boilermakers reached the second round of the NCAA tourney last year.
The final nonconference game of the year is against Vanderbilt on Wednesday, Jan. 2 in Nashville. Vanderbilt won the SEC tourney and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament last season.
