Williamsburg residents are invited to learn more about the free black settlement at Freedom Park during an upcoming historical presentation.
Col. Lafayette Jones Jr., a descendent of those who lived at the settlement during the 18th century, will discuss life during that time and freedom experienced by those who lived at the settlement prior to the Emancipation Proclamation. He will also sign copies of his book titled "My Great, Great, Grandfather's Journey," following the presentation.
The event is open to all ages and will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at Freedom Park Interpretive Center, located at 5537 Centerville Road, in Williamsburg.
