Williamsburg resident John Wineinger participates in STAR program at Purdue University

Williamsburg resident John Wineinger has taken the first step in becoming a Boilermaker by participating in Purdue University's annual Summer Transition, Advising and Registration program.

Purdue's STAR program is designed for new undergraduate students to receive academic advice and create their initial course schedules. Incoming students select their one-day STAR session at the university's West Lafayette campus.

Purdue University is reputed for its programs in science, technology, engineering and math, and also for programs that place emphasis on imagination, ingenuity and innovation.

The university was founded in 1869 in West Lafayette. More than 39,000 students are enrolled at Purdue, all representing all 50 states and 130 countries.
