Williamsburg parks filling last open youth volleyball spots

Williamsburg Parks and Recreation is filling its last available openings for the youth coed volleyball leagues for grades three through 12.   Separate leagues are offered for grades three through six and grades seven through 12. The third- through sixth-grade league will hold a coach and rules meeting at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, and the grades seven through 12 league will hold its meeting at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13.   Both leagues will begin Monday through Friday practices Friday, Sept. 14. The practices will be held from 5:15-6:15 p.m. during the week and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Regular season play will run from Monday, Oct. 1 through Thursday, Nov. 8.    A free clinic for youth players will be held from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 and coaches will meet the same date for tips and pizza from 6:15-7:45 p.m.   The cost is $45 for the first child registered, $35 for the second child and $25 for each additional child registered for the program.    Registration will be open until Thursday, Sept. 6 or until the leagues are full. Online registration is open for the third- through sixth-grades  league. Each league is open to a maximum of 72 participants.    Registration for players in grades seven through 12 can be made at the Quarterpath Recreation Center, 202 Quarterpath Road. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, and 1-6 p.m. on Saturdays.    For more information and registration details, visit williamsburgva.gov or call the Quarterpath Recreation Center at 757-259-3760.
