Nine Williamsburg runners complete Patrick Henry Half Marathon

Nine runners from Williamsburg completed the Patrick Henry Half Marathon Aug. 25 in Ashland.

The Williamsburg competitors, with their finishing times, were Glenn Muckley, 35, (1:34:26); Ashton Farrell, 26, (1:39:01); Jackson Sasser, 36, (1:49:04); James Strawn II, 46, (1:51:35); Jimmy Blount, 61, (1:57:07); Herrick Johnson, 24, (2:01:48); John Gaul, 47, (2:11:38); Jim Hopkins, 57, (2:15:59); and George White, 65, (2:29:41).

Guy Alton, of Richmond, was the men's overall winner with a time of 1:11:35, while Meredith Axisa, also of Richmond, was the winner in the women's category with 1:24:25.

A total of 1,196 runners finished the 13.1-mile race, which started and ended at Randolph-Macon College. The race is part of the Richmond Road Runners Clubs Grand Prix series of races.
