Ettus wins KMGA Shootout golf tournament

Doug Ettus won the final chip-off to claim the Kingsmill Men's Golf Association Shootout championship Sept. 1.

The 2012 Shootout tournament consisted of two qualifying events, followed by a shootout final among the top 10 players from each qualifying flight. One player was eliminated at each hole until Ettus claimed victory at the final shootout at Woods Course.

In a five-player playoff to determine the final 10 contestants, Ettus and Hal Seamon snuck into the mix as the last two players to qualify. Seamon hit two balls into the water on the third hole, but still managed to end neck-and-neck with Ettus after the ninth and final hole. Ettus beat Seamon in a final chip-off competition for the win.

Following Ettus and Seamon, Peter Meinberg took third place, Richard Hartle snagged fourth and Jerry South finished in fifth.

Kingsmill's Woods Golf Course is at 1010 Kingsmill Road, Williamsburg.
