Warhill football team hosts York

The Warhill High School Lions football team will return to action to host the York High School Falcons at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Cooley Field in Williamsburg.

The contest will be the AA Bay Rivers league opener for both schools.

The Lions (1-0) are coming off a 49-17 road victory at Greensville County High School on Aug. 31 in Emporia. Warhill (1-0) was on the winning side of a 20-17 score Aug. 24 at Park View High School in South Hill. The Falcons rested the weekend of Aug. 31 on their bye week.

Warhill will remain in league play when it travels to Poquoson High School on Friday, Sept. 14, and to New Kent High School on Friday, Sept. 21. The Lions will then host Bruton High School on Friday, Sept. 28. All three contests will kick off at 7 p.m.

York will also continue to play within the league when it hosts Tabb High School on Friday, Sept. 14, and Jamestown High School on Friday, Sept. 21. A league road game will take the Falcons to Smithfield High School on Friday, Sept. 28. Each contest begins at 7 p.m.
