Warhill HS grad Armstead plays in Norfolk State University losing effort

Warhill HS grad Charlotte Armstead had five digs Aug. 31, but Norfolk State University dropped a 0-3 victory to Duquesne University in women's volleyball action.

Armstead, a junior middle blocker, also contributed a block and nine kills, along with a .292 hitting percentage.

The Spartans lost 17-25, 10-25, 7-25 at A.J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh. The team is now 1- 4 on the season.

The next contest for Norfolk State University is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, on the road against Robert Morris.

Armstead played three years of varsity volleyball at Warhill, tallying 297 kills, 177 digs and 122 blocks as a senior en route to making the All-Bay Rivers District First Team. She was a two-year letter winner at Warhill, and a Region 1 honorable mention as a senior. Armstead was the first student in Warhill's two-year-old volleyball program to earn an athletic scholarship when she signed with NSU.
