Athletes in action: Football

The following athletes with local high school ties are scheduled to compete this week in the following events:

Garrick Piggott, Kent State University
High school: Lafayette High School
This week: Saturday, Oct. 20, versus Western Michigan University
About Piggott: Piggott is a 2008 graduate of Lafayette High School, where he was on the football and track teams. On the gridiron, Piggott rushed for 1,353 yards and scored 15 touchdowns. He also totaled 221 receiving yards and two touchdowns during his career. He received All-Region honors twice and All-District honors three times. Piggott also received honors on the track, including All-State, All-Region and All-District. Piggott is the son of Cary Piggott and Richard Wiggins. He is majoring in justice studies.

Taylor Terry, Bridgewater College
High school: Lafayette High School
This week: Saturday, Oct. 20, versus Washington and Lee
About Terry: Terry is a 2009 graduate of Lafayette High School, where he was an All-District selection. While Terry was a member of the football team, Lafayette was a two-time district champion, as well as regional champions. Terry is the son of Ken and Betsy Terry.
