Schaffer named Colonial Athletic Association Womens Soccer Player of the Year
Mallory Schaffer, a resident of Williamsburg, has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Player of the Year at William & Mary.
This is the second straight year that the senior midfielder received the honor.
Schaffer led William & Mary and ranked third in the CAA in goals (10) and points (23). She contributed a goal or an assist in 10 of the Tribe's 19 contests and recorded game-winning goals in road victories at Auburn and Villanova. A three-time first-team All-Conference honoree, Schaffer is just the fourth player in CAA history to earn multiple Player of the Year awards, joining former W&M players Natalie Neaton (1993, 1995), Missy Wycinsky (1998-99) and Claire Zimmeck (2006-07). Schaffer received first-team All-America and Academic All-America accolades in 2011 and is currently one of 10 national finalists for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award.
