Oxen: Learn about this Source of Power event set for Dec. 5
The Oxen: Learn about this Source of Power event, sponsored by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5 at various sites in the Revolutionary City.
The event will run from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
According to a press release from The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, "Oxen played an important role for 18th-century Virginians. They provided the power to pull plows and move heavy loads and were preferred for long-distance moves, because they were hardier than horses and were able to find food along the way. Though Virginians loved horses, a yoke of oxen was likely to be of greater service over the long haul."
Tickets are not required and the event is free.
