Grove Christian Outreach Center seeking volunteers

The Grove Christian Outreach Center is seeking volunteers for the group's partnership with W&M for food donations Wednesday, Jan. 30.

According to a press release from the Grove Christian Outreach Center, "We are so excited about a new partnership with W&M and their food service program where we will be receiving food product from their facility on a weekly basis throughout the year. We are looking for a group of people who would be willing to self contain this pickup, meaning if one could not do it the others in the group would be able to. "

Volunteers will need a vehicle suitable for pickup and a valid food handlers card for all people participating in pick up activities. A brief training meeting will take place at GCOC.

Advance registration is required.

The Grove Christian Outreach Center is at 8910-East Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg.

The Grove Christian Outreach Center broke ground for its first facility Aug. 9, 2012. The organization is run by more than 100 volunteers each month. It was established in 2000 and provides a food pantry and hygiene closet, lackey diabetic program, financial assistance, a clothes closet and more. It hosts seasonal programs, such as backpacks for children, gifts for holidays and holiday food baskets.
